In June of 2011, Anchored in Truth assembled a team of four men, and one lady to travel to Peru. The primary focus of the trip was the sharing of the Gospel, but it also allowed us to accomplish several things.
This trip was planned to take the team to Pomabamba, Peru, where our IMB missionary, Kenan Plunk is serving. Kenan had specific plans for the group to help him survey the community and multiply his efforts at reaching out and finding those people who were receptive to the Gospel.
This trip was the first time our church plant in Richland Center, Wisconsin, would send out a missionary. As this is their first year as a church plant, this was so valuable for the pastor, Mike Kleinsasser, to see first hand the model of going, and see the need to go. Mike's ability to challenge the Grace Life family in Wisconsin to be mission minded has been given great validity.
The trip allowed one of our partnering churches, Grace Baptist Church of Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada, to participate. Two young men, Clayton Osterbeck and Zach Loewen, with the approval of pastor Ernie Plett, joined the team. It was an opportunity for these two young men to experience sharing the Gospel in a different language, with a translator, and to have their hearts see the great need of the Gospel around the world.
And lastly this trip allowed for Kenan's mother, Zoe Plunk, to travel to see where her son is serving the Lord. Zoe reports that even her prayers for Kenan have changed as she now has first hand knowledge of where he is and the obstacles he faces in sharing Christ in Pomabamba.
