You can't preach on self-love and self-esteem and at the same time tell a person they are a wretch and they need to repent. Those are incompatible. Popular psychology seems to be quoted and revered more than the Scriptures. When a pastor does that he is implying that the Scriptures are inadequate to meet real needs.
