Grace Life Hispanic Church

Sometime in 2014, Pastor Steve McAlister asked me to pray about leading a Spanish outreach ministry for my home church, Grace Life Church of the Shoals. After praying and meeting with Pastor Steve and some other men, we decided to start having services in Spanish on Sunday mornings for the Hispanic community living in the Shoals area. We began announcing this new ministry to the Hispanic community at the free medical clinic as well as visiting door to door and inviting people to come. We had our first Spanish service on the Sunday before Christmas of 2014 when a precious couple that we had invited showed up. Since that time, we have gradually grown as that couple now brings many more family members and as other new friends regularly attend as well. We meet every Sunday morning at 10:15 for prayer, worship in song, the preaching of the word, and fellowship.

In addition to our Sunday services, we also participate in a local free medical clinic run by several local churches where we have the opportunity to minister to a greater number of the Hispanic community, sharing the Gospel with them, counseling with them, and providing for their health needs. We are also involved in regular door to door evangelism in Spanish speaking neighborhoods in which we have had wonderful opportunities to share the Gospel with eager listeners.

The goal of the Hispanic ministry is to make obedient disciples of Christ among the Spanish speaking community of the Shoals area. We seek to do this by faithfully proclaiming the Gospel through expository preaching and teaching, depending on the Holy Spirit to make his word effectual in the hearts of the people. We are praying that the Lord will save those who are lost who come and hear and that he will convict new believers to submit to believer’s baptism and to become full members of the Church. Our desire is that the Lord will continue to bless the work here and that a healthy, biblical church will be established among the Hispanic community.

I would like to thank our Anchored in Truth partners for your prayers on our behalf. The Gospel is going forth and being heard in the Hispanic community of the Shoals, and your prayers and support play an important role in that work, so thank you.

In Christ,

Luke Baker
