For 10 years I have been serving at Grace and Truth Bible Church in the city of Valencia, Spain, with the conviction that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. My calling is to proclaim God's Word faithfully, to build up the church through expository preaching and doctrinal teaching, and to make disciples who live and proclaim the Lord's Gospel in the midst of a culture in need of hope.

Spain is a country in deep need of the gospel, with vast regions that are spiritually barren. Therefore, one of the central desires of my ministry is to contribute, by God's grace, to the planting of more biblical churches that will be beacons of light in their communities. My prayer and constant work is to see the local church strengthened and passionate about the mission of Christ, until the glory of God covers this nation as the waters cover the sea.

Together with my beloved wife Gema and our three sons Antonio, Rafael and Josué, I ask you for prayers for my family.

We feel deeply grateful to the Lord for allowing us to walk together, we ask you for prayer for the work here in Spain.

December 2025 Update

Hello, dear brothers and sisters, it is with great joy in the Lord that I write this final report for the year 2025.

We are grateful to God for each one of you who have accompanied us during this time and have been praying and collaborating with us. God has been good, and we celebrate His goodness among us.

God has used you during this period of time to keep our minds more focused on ministerial matters. We greatly value and appreciate your financial and spiritual contributions, which have served to advance the ministry and develop the church in Valencia.

We are very excited about what the coming year 2026 has in store. This year, God willing, we will have time to meet you personally at the annual conference in February. Seeing you, getting to know you, and giving you a brotherly hug is one of the things that makes me happiest about this great journey.

I have been practicing my English so that I can interact with the brothers and sisters. It is a bit difficult because I never studied it, but it is something I have set out to do this coming year as I desire to grow in fellowship with you, my brothers and sisters.

We are ending this year celebrating many things. We have had good spiritual growth as a church, as the Lord is growing each member into the image of His Son, which is visible among us.

We have also grown in the external witness of the church, and some people have come to know us, giving us the opportunity to present the gospel to them.

Something we celebrate is the grace of God among us as people of every tribe, language, and nation. God is uniting us for His glory.

This month we have had several farewells. One is our sister Atraceli and her family, who after three years among us have moved to another city where they will continue to attend another congregation. This journey is wonderful because of the people we meet, but at the same time there is also a little sadness to see that often, due to circumstances, we have to part ways. However, our sister leaves with the blessing of the church, where we will pray for her.

Three students who came from the United States are also leaving. They have been with us for six months and are leaving again, taking with them the precious appreciation of each member of the church.

On December 20th, we celebrated our annual Christmas dinner, which was a very emotional time filled with laughter, tears, and above all, abundant thanksgiving for the testimony of God's grace in the lives of our brothers and sisters.

Otherwise, we spent this Christmas surrounded by family, so it was a good time where we rested from work for a few days and gathered strength for the start of this new year.

During the month of November, the Lord granted us the privilege of participating in the anniversary of the Biblical Church of Lleida together with the Dias Family.

It was a particularly meaningful time of fellowship among brothers and sisters, congregational worship, and mutual edification around the Word of God. We were able to give thanks together for the Lord's faithfulness over the years and for the constant work He continues to do in the midst of His church, confirming once again that Christ continues to build His people according to His promise.

This gathering was also an opportunity to strengthen the fraternal bonds between sister churches, encouraging one another to persevere in sound doctrine, in the faithful preaching of the gospel, and in constant dependence on the Lord amid the challenges of ministry. We left edified and encouraged to see how God sustains His work and raises up churches centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Baptisms at Grace and Truth Bible Church

Also in November we had the great joy of celebrating baptisms at Grace and Truth Bible Church. This time was a clear and visible reminder of the powerful work of the gospel, as new believers publicly testified to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, confessing that they have been saved solely by grace, through faith, and not by works.

The baptisms were an occasion of deep joy and gratitude, both for the congregation and for the brothers and sisters themselves who obeyed the Lord's command. Through this act, we proclaim that those who have been united to Christ by faith have died and risen with Him to live a new life. We thank God for His regenerating work, for the perseverance of the saints, and for the healthy growth of the church, recognizing that all fruit is the exclusive result of God's sovereign grace.

On this day, we welcomed many people, a total of 110, and we had the opportunity to present Romans 6, which gave us a clear opportunity to present the gospel to people who are not usually exposed to the word of God.

We celebrated the baptism of our son Rafael, and as a father and pastor, it has been a gift of grace that God has allowed me to see this moment.

I ask for your prayers for the development of these two young people as disciples, that they may be marked by God's grace and grow in the image of our Lord Jesus.

The Vargas Fernandez Family

We also want to share how our journey has been during this period, both personally and as a family. During these months, we have been working intensely in the secular sphere, attending to family responsibilities and serving constantly in the church. The combination of these areas, while a blessing, also carries a considerable burden.

Both my wife and I have experienced on more than one occasion the physical and emotional exhaustion that comes with maintaining this pace of life and ministry. However, we thank God because, even in the midst of exhaustion, He reminds us that His grace is sufficient and that His power is made perfect in our weakness.

We deeply appreciate your prayers, as we know that the spiritual support of the church is key to persevering with joy and faithfulness in the calling that the Lord has given us.

The Grace and Truth Bible Church

We continue to develop our regular program, as we see that it enriches the life of God in each believer.

We regret to report the fall of our sister Adela, an 80-year-old woman who has fractured her hip. Due to her age, her recovery is proving difficult, and we ask for your prayers for her.

We are also very grateful to God for the life of our brother Carlos. He had a leg amputated this summer and has already received his prosthesis and is walking, an example of strength and overcoming in the Lord. Pray for him that his spirit will not grow weary.

I thank God and you, my brothers and sisters, for accompanying us in this task of ministry and the spread of the gospel in the city of Valencia, Spain.
